It’s Too Hot For Dogs To Be Left In Cars

June is National Safety Month, making it the perfect time to take action to keep yourself, your family, and your community safe. At Home Hazard Prevention, we talk about safety every month—but now it’s your turn! Here are some practical ways to promote safety in your home, neighborhood, and community.

Safety at Home

✅ Check Your First Aid Kit – Medical supplies dry out or expire. Restock bandages, antiseptics, and other essentials.  ✅ Dispose of Expired Medications – Don’t let old meds pile up. Safely discard them at your local sheriff’s department or pharmacy.  ✅ Inspect Your Home for Hazards – Look for loose wires, overused extension cords, wobbly gates, and other potential dangers that need fixing.  ✅ Practice Emergency Drills – Fire, medical emergencies, tornadoes—whatever threats are common in your area, make sure your family knows what to do!

Safety in Your Neighborhood

✅ Teach Car Maintenance Basics – Show someone how to change a tire or check their oil—a skill that could prevent them from getting stranded.  ✅ Help Elderly Neighbors – Assist with trimming trees or removing hazards around their home.  ✅ Check Street & Pathway Lighting – Take an evening walk to see if any lights are out and report them to your city or HOA for repair.

Safety in Your Community

✅ Take a CPR Class – Knowing CPR can save lives! ✅ Complete a Defensive Driving Course – Refresh your driving skills and learn how to avoid accidents.  ✅ Volunteer for Emergency Preparedness – Help your community plan for disasters and be a part of the solution!
