September is a great month for many reasons. It is also a sad day for those of us that were and still are impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. This September I challenge each of you to Thank a Veteran and to become better citizens as September 17 is Citizenship (or Constitution) Day in America. Grade schools in Iowa (my home state) were the first in the Nation to recognize Constitution Day in 1911. It has since become a National Holiday.
The history of Constitution (or Citizenship) day can be found here.
Being a good citizen starts at home. Teach your children the Pledge of Allegiance. Teach them to Thank a Veteran (and the Elderly, and firemen, and Policemen, and Doctors, and Teachers). These people never get enough “Thanks” or recognition for their efforts. And with all the strife and ill-will towards public servants; lets take time to thank them all. There are also local non-profits that work together to help give back to those that serve us. A favorite can be found here. The House of Heroes organization recognizes, honors and serves military and public safety veterans and their spouses for faithful and sacrificial service to our country. On behalf of all of us here at Home Hazard Prevention; to the active, retired, and future Veterans: “Thank You!”
Stay safe my friends!
