The heat is on. It generally gets here in mid-March; but we’ve been extremely lucky so far with the cooler weather. But those trends are changing. We know it and we deal with it- after all, 3 months of Hell on Earth isn’t so bad. Just ask the people from the East Coast how their Winter was. Go ahead, I’ll wait……
The heat makes many of us cranky and stinky, but we’ve learned to deal with it. Our children and pets do not have it so lucky. Often they cannot regulate their body temperatures to keep themselves cool like older children and adults can. Here are some ideas to help kids and pets stay cool this summer:
- Keep them wrapped loosely in white or light colored clothes
- Give them fresh cool (not cold) water every 10 minutes while outside
- Have a pool date- just assign water watchers!
- Get some movie passes- Harkins has great deals for kids
- Take a family trip to a cooler environment
- Park under shade trees- the walk may be longer and hotter, but your car will thank you
- Get your household AC checked and kept at a constant temperature
- Cover car seats with a blanket to avoid burns to your little one
Mostly during the summer months, STAY INDOORS and “Think Safety, Live Safely!” then call us for some in-home safety training and tips. As always, WATCH YOUR KIDS (& OTHER ADULTS) AROUND WATER!
