Instruction on cardiopulmonary resuscitation; exemptions; definition:

ON OR BEFORE JULY 1, 2019, school districts and charter schools may SHALL provide public school pupils with one or more training sessions in CPR, through the use of psycho-motor skills in an age-appropriate manner, during High School.

CPR Required For Arizona Students

The excerpt above is the start the new law in Arizona; which requires all high school students in Arizona to complete a CPR course prior to graduating. This new law took effect on July 1, 2019. The Bill allows for credit to be given to students that completed the course prior to the deadline and also allows families to take a tax deduction if they pay for their own class.  Students may elect to withhold their child from the training; but would not be beneficial if they were ever to come across an emergency.
