Firefighter Owned Business wins National Award to help with Car Seat Installation
The Manufacturers Alliance for Child Passenger Safety (MACPS) is a consortium of car seat, child restraint and vehicle manufacturers. Established several years ago by Safe Kids Worldwide, the Alliance’s mission is to support Child Passenger Safety Technicians, Instructors and Advocates by providing a common direction through harmonized statements that reflect best practice recommendations and to support ongoing education for car seat Technicians and Instructors.
All grants are awarded annually through a competitive application process. The Educational Grants are chosen and awarded by select members of the MACPS who have volunteered to be a part of the Grant Selection Committee.
Local Phoenix-area resident and firefighter, Nick Hansen from Home Hazard Prevention, has won the 2015 MACPS Education Grant. Through his experience as a first responder, Nick has developed a passion for preventing infant and early childhood injuries. This led to his founding of Home Hazard Prevention, a residential safety company.
Home Hazard Prevention, LLC, is the leader in residential and child safety in the Phoenix Arizona area. They can assist with Car Seat Safety, CPR Training, Residential Escape Plans, Fire Safety, Baby Proofing, Smoke Detectors, Pool Safety, Fire Extinguishers, and General Household Safety Information. Safety is mostly about Prevention, Education, and Practice. Help protect your family by understanding the risks and knowing the procedures to take in the event an emergency occurs. His company motto is “Think Safety, Live Safely!”
Nick’s company has completed dozens of child safety inspections, taught hundreds of people emergency CPR and First Aid, and installed over 250 car seats since the company was founded in late 2013. He enjoys every opportunity to help the citizens of the metropolitan Phoenix area, and can be found teaching CPR and Car Seat Safety classes at local OG/GYN and Pediatrician offices when he is not on shift at the firehouse.
