It’s true, summer is almost over. So, I have an idea. Let’s forget about all the things we had to do to get ready for the school year and finish out the summer in style with a great Labor Day weekend, with fun for kids and adults alike.
Labor Day Fun!
First, a very brief history on Labor Day. Labor Day, celebrated on the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country
Now on to the fun part. Here are three ideas that can help.
Number 3
Sports. You have to get those kids running around and it’s not bad for us adults as well. Surprise your kids with a pickup game of kickball, whiffle ball or flag football. Kids against the adults usually makes it pretty interesting. Just get outdoors and get moving, as long as it’s not too hot. Be sure to drink plenty of water.
Number 2
Make a Big Splash. A cannon ball is one of the best ways to end the summer. Oh, yea! And it’s fun for the kids, too. Here are a few tips to think about, whether your family is relaxing in the water or on the water. Be sure to practice water safety. Have a dedicated water watcher and rotate positions every 15 minutes so everyone can get in on the fun. And adults, it’s okay to let go as well. Have fun!
And the Number 1 Way to Have Fun (insert drum roll here):
The Cookout. This, of course, includes more than just the act of cooking the food. You’ve heard this from me before. It’s all about hanging out, relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends. Of course, we all know some moms and dads who take the grilling pretty seriously, which is great for the rest of us. No matter what, invite your family and your friends. After all, what a better time to reconnect and have fun than over some good food.
No matter how you choose to spend your time, have a great Labor Day weekend from all of us here at Home Hazard Prevention!
